Thanks to all the volunteers in the MDBR Region for their incredible commitment and active participation in our recent cleanup drive. Together, we managed to clean up an area of approximately 750 square feet, during which we responsibly collected over 200 kilograms of both dry and wet waste. This achievement reflects the dedication and hard work of our volunteers.

However, it’s important to note that we were unable to complete the cleanup in just one day, as the volume of waste exceeded our initial predictions. This situation has prompted us to escalate the matter to the local sub-inspector, councilor, and chairman of the North Dumdum municipality, requesting their immediate assistance in cleaning up the area. We have previously submitted written complaints on more than one occasion, and we will persist in our efforts to ensure this issue is addressed thoroughly.

During the cleanup process, we took it upon ourselves to engage with individuals who have been contributing to the problem of open waste disposal. We approached them directly, educating them firmly about the negative impact of their actions and warning them that stricter actions will be taken if they do not cease this behavior moving forward.

In addition to our cleanup efforts, we have begun to invest in the future of the area by purchasing a few plants that we intend to plant once the cleanup is fully completed. Thus far, we have successfully completed approximately 70% of our cleanup initiative and have taken measures to mitigate the waste by applying bleaching powder to the remaining areas.

None of this would have been possible without the generous monthly donations from our dedicated volunteers. Your contributions not only provide the resources needed for cleanups but also inspire a collective sense of responsibility and community. Together, we are making a significant difference in our environment, and we are committed to continuing this vital work for the betterment of our community.
