Overview
B.C.R.T has always emphasized the importance of rationalism since we started our journey in 2024. Our organization has tirelessly engaged in discussions, producing countless videos that articulate our stance against the threats posed to scientific temperament, logical reasoning, and the freedom of thought. However, a significant concern that has surfaced among our members is that the type of social work we have previously undertaken, while crucial and beneficial, primarily addressed generic issues such as aiding the impoverished, engaging in garbage cleaning initiatives, distributing Oral Rehydration Salts (ORS), and organizing health camps. Though these efforts certainly foster a positive mindset within our communities, they do not explicitly advocate for the principles of rationalism that we hold dear. This gap in our mission has been a point of contention and a recurring topic in our internal trustee and volunteer meetings.
Recognizing the need for a strategic shift, June 2026 marked a pivotal moment for B.C.R.T as we undertook a significant restructuring. We reorganized our volunteer base into distinct regions, enabling us to implement our initiatives focused on promoting rationalism in a more systematic way. We established three regions: Region 1, DDCD (Dumdum Cantonment – Durganagar); Region 2, MDBR (Madhyamgram – Barasat); and Region 3, BLR-U (Bangalore Urban). Each region was allocated volunteers equipped with the necessary resources to conduct activities tailored to encourage rational thinking and scientific inquiry.
In our quest to bridge this gap, we conducted two pilot activities within these newly established regions. During these pilots, our volunteers took the lead in executing the initiatives, demonstrating autonomy and commitment while minimizing the direct involvement of the trustees. These experiences not only provided invaluable insights and lessons but also helped to refine our approach for future activities.
With the learnings from these pilot initiatives, we are now poised to launch our first direct endeavor aimed at promoting rationalism in a recurring format. This initiative focuses on educating children about core subjects such as science, technology, and astronomy. We believe that by instilling a strong foundation of scientific temperament in young minds, we can arm them against the pervasive threats of superstition, pseudoscience, and the irrational social brainwashing that often pervades our societies. By nurturing a generation that values critical thinking and evidence-based reasoning, we are setting the stage for a more rational, enlightened future.
Our Activity Plan
We will invite 8-15 kids along with their parents in a batch from any background and show them scientifically easy to understand content on a projector, ensuring that the topics engage young minds and spark their curiosity about the world around them. There will be interactive quizzes and interesting games interspersed throughout the session, allowing parents and children alike to participate actively and evaluate their learnings in a fun and informal setting. Along with this, there will be arrangements for a delightful barbeque, providing a wonderful opportunity for kids to bond with their peers and enjoy the activity like a picnic in the open air. The entire activity is designed to last approximately 3 hours in a mostly outdoor setup, creating a lively and vibrant environment. We might also arrange tents, telescopes, and other engaging tools to enhance the experience, allowing children to immerse themselves in thrilling scientific exploration while enjoying the camaraderie of friends and family.
